between the academy and the labs of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences with state structures in security, defense, and crisis management. Additionally, it fosters bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union, as well as with other international organizations

of joint projects and specific tasks for researching, building, and improving the capabilities of Bulgarian structures for crisis management, security, and defense through the conduct of applied and experimental scientific research activities within the institutes and laboratories of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS).

Our focus
The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) is the leading national institute in fundamental and applied research, technological development, experimentation, and the scientific support of security and defense policy formation and planning.
Established in 2002, the Center for National Security and Defense Research (CNSDR) has the main strategic goal of supporting, coordinating and organizing research in the field of security and defense within the BAS by developing cooperation with relevant state institutions in the national security system.
The CNSDR activity is concentrated on providing information to other BAS institutes, labs, research groups and individual scientists about the needs and programs of potential users, as well as the possibilities for bilateral and multilateral cooperation within NATO and the European Union.

Participation in advisory bodies and expert groups for various state institutes: the Parliament, the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Ministry of Economy and Industry.

Participation in national scientific programs in the field of national security and defense.

Participation in international projects related to scientific forecasting in the field of national security and crisis management.
Scientific conferences
Conducting research, information and expert activities. Participation in scientific conferences and seminars.
