WORKSHOP “SPACE TECHNOLOGIES AND INNOVATIONS IN SUPPORT OF EFFECTIVE CRISIS AND DISASTER MANAGEMENT”

On 4^th November 2025 (Tuesday) at 09:30 a.m. at the Regional Administration – Plovdiv will be held a seminar on “Space technologies and innovations in support of effective crisis and disaster management”, which is organized by the Center for National Security and Defense Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (CINSO-BAS) together with the Regional Administration – Plovdiv and the General Directorate “Fire Safety and Protection” – Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The main focus will be on the challenges faced by climate change and climate adaptation and will bring together experts, institutions and organizations to discuss modern approaches in crisis management and disaster response.

Examples of space technology applications will be presented such as a tool for integrated solutions in prevention, early warning and effective protection of the population and critical infrastructure.

Last but not least, tools and indicators for assessing climate risk in the cities of Burgas and Gabrovo, developed within the framework of the European project “VALORADA”, will be presented. Participants will learn about the practical experience of their implementation, as well as the possibilities for multiplying the solutions in other Bulgarian municipalities.
