On November 19, 2025, Bulgaria honored the heroism and professionalism of its defenders. With a series of solemn rituals, the Land Forces celebrated their battle holiday, dedicated to a double anniversary – 147 years since its establishment and 140 years since the victory in the Serbo-Bulgarian War.

As part of the large-scale initiative “Steps of Glory”, servicemen, officials and citizens gathered at the places forever marked by Bulgarian history and sacrifice – the monuments near Slivnitsa and Gurgulyat.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Kamen Iliev, Director of the Center for National Security and Defence Research at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (CNSDR-BAS). His presence is a sign of respect and support from the scientific community to the Bulgarian army. As a specialized unit of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Center works actively to support and coordinate research activities in the field of security and defence.
