EC Joint Research Center Disaster Risk Management Knowledge Center Annual Scientific Workshop

The workshop aims to bring together around 120 experts from various disciplines in disaster management, early detection, forecasting, warning and risk assessment of natural and man-made disasters, both in civil protection and humanitarian aid. The target audience includes academics, practitioners and policy makers at national, regional and international levels, as well as grassroots and private sector representatives.’

The National Security and Defense Research Center at the BAS and the Knowledge Center for Disaster Risk Management at the EC Joint Research Center are organizing a third international scientific seminar. The two-day forum will start on April 26, at 9:00 a.m., in the Great Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, with sessions also taking place in the conference hall of the National Archaeological Institute with Museum (NAIM-BAN).

The scientific seminar is included in the calendar of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU and is held with the assistance of the Ministry of the Interior. The aim of the workshop is to bring together disaster risk management scholars, practitioners and policy makers to exchange knowledge and experience and discuss ways to strengthen disaster risk management at local, national and European levels. More than 120 participants are expected from all European countries, the USA, Japan, etc.
